Net neutrality: To ensure consistency across the wireless world
Recently, the departure of the rules of net neutrality new Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has launched a new battle in the wireless world. Approximately fourteen major companies have formed a platform and signed a protocol to support the implementation of net neutrality. Signatories include companies include Google, Facebook, Twitter, and recently joined the race, while Amazon, eBay, EchoStar Corporation, Mozilla, Sony Electronics and TiVo have signed the documents.
In general, net neutrality is questionable, because there are no rules and regulations, for different rhythms and broadband customer-Up Internet service based on content or type of service. Net neutrality provides a neutral broadband network, regardless of content, sites or platforms and modes of communication available. If the U.S. took the initiative with the new recommendations of the FCC, then the rest is expected that the world can claim the net neutrality principles it themselves.
India's concerns network neutrality
The broadband penetration in the Indian market is very limited and number of Internet users is the impasse last year with about 45 to 50 million. Prices and plans for the use of broadband Internet in India has been widely distributed. However, with recent BSNL prepaid broadband, telecommunications provider implementing state revived the debate over net neutrality in India.
Several analysts suggest that telecommunications providers must provide a structured service model so that competition can control wave, an artificial shortage and the need for customers to purchase other services are not competitive. They also said that net neutrality is important to the world of the Web to protect their freedoms today.
various programs and services of the Indian telecom providers
Recently, Airtel has announced the release of 16 Mbit / s speed broadband customers, but the user can download data free of 100 GB in a month. Meanwhile, BSNL, which owns approximately 54.09% (7.6 million users) and India's subscriber base line of Internet, providing inexpensive options for connecting to the network, but the broadband speed is slow. You can stay connected to the broadband plan DataOne low cost of only Rs 125 per month you have 150 MB download / upload per month and the additional cost of Rs 0.90 / 1 MB for extra usage.
Similarly, RCOM, Tata Indicom and other manufacturers also have their respective planes, but the synchronization subscription plans missing. Therefore, analysts suggest that there is an immediate need for the policy of network neutrality, the TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India), so that users eligible for fair broadband.
What after 3G?
The Ministry of Telecommunications has announced 14 January 2010 deadline for the auction of 3G. However, the telecommunications giant has already released several of its 3G services and the market is flooded with 3G enabled devices. Earlier this year, MTNL has announced its 3G service, called Jadoo India and Apple launched its iPhone 3G in August this year.
But, do we need neutrality network plans for the future principles of tariffs for 3G services or the provision of broadband services? If concerned about the differences between different types of services suppliers?
International scenario
There are applications to test various telecommunications services such as free Google Voice, should be under the rules of network neutrality. In addition, a group of 44 networks and media companies have sent a team of letter to the FCC expressing the same concern for net neutrality. However, some manufacturers have to await the announcement of the FCC to decide who will control wireless pipes tomorrow.
