Asked about the update for the iPhone in April?

OK, so I have a 3G iPhone yet, but plan on getting the iPhone 4G Apple Store later this month. At the Apple store website says the phone is ready for use, all I have to do is activate it with iTunes. My question is, I will not have to insert the SIM card in my iPhone today at the new iPhone in April? O come with a new SIM card I have my contacts and other things about it?
