How to import songs from iTunes to iPod?

Apple products are always the most annoying to work. Anyway I have a ipod nano or 3G and am trying to move my iTunes songs on your iPod. I downloaded the manual (Just to be only granted to the damn thing) and I tried to understand the mystery. Them keep saying "find the source and select the iPod nano then transfer the songs. The question is, where is the source? I looked at all options in iTunes and I can not find a menu or a section called "Source" or "iPod. isnide I saw this thing and I can not understand how to manage my songs manually and transfer them to iPod. Could you please help me? I use version 7.4.3.1 if that makes a difference
