Where to buy a shop model ipod?

I am looking for a ipod, preferably a Itouch.
At the moment I can afford a new one from a place like apple or amazon.
I found out that sometimes some shops sell their items that have been used as a model, like in the shop window, I also heard that these are cheaper than straight off a website like apple..is this right? And if it is what sort of shops should I be looking in and asking about how much they sell for?
And also what sort of price am I looking to pay?
