Why, To-Shuffle Shake feature does not work on my iPod touch?

I have an iPod touch 2nd generation, 8GB. It Verson: 2.2.1 is the latest version. This version is supposed to be a handful of the shuffle, but does not work when I shake my iPod. My friend has a 2G iPod Touch 8GB and is said the iPod shuffle is expected that when you shake it. What is the problem I'm having? I checked the Apple website and does not say anything about it.
