Unlock iPhone cell phone /?

Right now I'm on Virgin Mobile in Canada, which sucks, I have the LG Rumor and the service is terrible. I get a Telus phone or Fido or something, but I want an iPhone and really do not want these terrible plans. My question is: If I buy the new iPhone (available in June this year) and unlock it, so I'm really doing? "I can continue paying for Telus and a normal plan? What happens with all downloads of data, etc. In addition, will void the warranty? I know that the iPod touch jailbreak and if I can get my warranty is back, but what about freedom? I heard that you can open through a computer program, so maybe it's possible, I do not know. You can not buy the iPhone without contract price promotion. You can buy line, but it is very, very expensive.
