Verizon will never create a phone like the iPhone in the near future?

My plan is one of 9-10 months and I have wondered if it Verzion try to make a phone next to the iPhone because I like the iPhone, but love Verizon will not just Cingular. I think the contract between Apple and Cingular will be during at least 2-4 years. if anyone has heard anything good from Verzion?
