3G iPhone AppleCare warranty question.?

Therefore, it might be a stupid question, but just something that I began to wonder. Since the iPhone 3G has been officially removed from production, I was wondering if say a year and half of the 3G now, bought a few months ago there was a drainage problem battery, so I took it to apple for replacement under the care of apples, how does it work? They maintain a large cache of 3G in hand for this scenario or give the new 8gig 3G as a replacement? If anyone knows what they have done the same with the warranty when the original iPhone 3G came out this would be great! Situation thanks!

They have until 3G stock everyone is out of warranty. This was done for the original iPhone. Do not have a 3G to replace. If the battery only change the battery for you instead of replacing the phone.
