The iPod is not responsible for the main unit of why?

Recently I was having a problem getting my iPod Classic (80GB) to bear GT430IP in my head of the Sony CDX. The iPod has worked with the unit probably about eight months. For about a day or two, I realized that there is no symbol load on the battery meter on the iPod. I tried on my IPhone 3G and pluging phone charges without any problems. Then plugged into my car charger for my iPod, works, and then my iPod dock plugged into my surround sound, loads well. I wondered if my iPod two years needs a new battery after being charged almost without interruption by the head of the unit while I'm driving. I'm going to college in a few days and I love that she did not die at the time of several players. All suggestions are highly appreciated. Thanks

Maybe reset the unit, disconnect the battery positive cable touch a piece of metal, as the engine for few seconds and then restart the ant head of unit, try again to restart the clock and station presets
