The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not seem to be supported?

Last night I was perfectly well with iTunes and my iPhone has no problem at all, but today when I plugged in my USB of my laptop and everything is was on itunes everything went wrong. I clicked on the iPhone tab in iTunes and it is said above (SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not seem to support), but the thing I am on O2 pay as you go. O2 is the support of iPhones in the UK, right? So not only can not use iTunes, but my iPhone is frozen in one screen shows a USB – iTunes> then. I can use my iPhone to make emergency calls.
