If an unlocked iPhone receives a dose of updated crash again?

I have an iPhone 2G. I unlocked by a friend, because I have T-Mobile. I recently upgraded to version 3.0. and now is locked again. I do everything just to spoil? It can be downgrated how it was before? or it can be unlocked way?
