Unlocked Iphone app store/itunes?

I will be running a unlocked/jailbroken iphone 2g on my tmobile plan i will have a data plan because my current phone is a sidekick and i am replacing it. I am aware u cannot update or it will undo the unlock luckily the phone i got already has the mms update on it, however i am curious if I can use the itunes store and add music from my computer and the app store without the phone relocking?
So if i go into the itunes store to buy music dont have to update? therefore my phone wont relock correct? and i can use the app store normally?

Yes it will work just normally as long as you dont update the software in itunes
