By using QR codes for small business marketing

I had a number of business owners approach me this week on QR codes and how they could use in their business, so I thought of writing this post to explain what they are and how you can use.

Let's start by looking at what they are and what they do, QR stands for "rapid response" and they are the next generation bar code. They have been in Japan for some time with the Japanese go nuts for them and who are just starting to appear in this country.

So what are they?

• Contain as much information as the address of your website

• You can read backwards and faster than a bar code standard

• You can get a QR reader for your phone or iPhone – the time you can surf the Web.

• They can be scanned from a computer screen, a newspaper or a brochure, magazine or display an advertising sign.

So how applies to small businesses, generating code, which is a simple process, you can apply the bar code to any advertising or promotional material used now is the use to sign its board, its print advertising, magazine or brochure.

We can then simply scan their code and phone number directly on the website that the code has embedded.The code is analyzed by simply taking a picture of the code of your mobile phone and then open a browser that takes you directly to the URL in the code.

This is a great tool if you want to specify a website or in your promotional offer advertising etc, and that the code will take readers directly to the address you specified. You can create QR code to send people to a web site URL, phone number, SMS or text message.

Here is an example of QR code that I created, which when read will be sent directly to my site target = "_self" title = "Internet Marketing Consultants"> www.mikeandrewconsulting.com Although there might be scanning a URL and sent there if they wanted to promote a product or service.

You can add to cards or head that way, it's a great promotional tool for your business and best of all are free.

QR reader can download from iTunes if you have an iPhone and some Nokia phones have the new drive as standard.
