Why Apple does not tell all my other media will be deleted if I can sync my new ringtones on my iPhone 3G?

I used application called "1000 free ringtones" and have sent the files to me. I downloaded on the desktop, open iTunes and the files are included in "ringtones" in my iTunes library. I tried to make ringtones click "sync" but I get a warning indicating that all my music will be deleted. It takes time (like 16-20 hours) to sync my computer with 10 gigs of music I have and do not want to do. You can not drag and drop from my library ringtones "folder in" iPhone Candice. I will do, but the file will not be there if it makes sense (also known as I'm not the "no smoking "circle with a search bar across it when I try to drag and drop but not actually move the file).
