This Week in Technology: 9 and Windows Internet Explorer 7 Series Phone

There were many recent major conferences, including Microsoft ® Mix conference and South by Southwest (SXSW), a conference on everything from interactive technology, movies and music. Although SXSW started as a place for musicians has expanded in recent years to cover a wide range of media and technology.

As for all that has happened in the SXSW and Mix, there was a issue that has been surprisingly technologies based on the default location, including social media. Course everyone uses, but one talked about him. The biggest debate on this subject have been where it was larger or Gowalla Foursquare.

Some media location-based social grew so quickly that it is already a thing of the past, even to talk? Or is it still so new to so many people that nobody really knows what this means? Let us know what you think, so feel free to give their opinion in the comments below.

Internet Explorer 9

Jump to the mix, the browser wars have another new weapon this week Microsoft announced a remake of the most popular browser in the world with Internet Explorer called love 9. Although the final date has not yet been announced, users can download a beta version to test some new features. It is still in beta, so Some features may not has not been fully implemented, but offers users a good idea about the look, feel and speed of the browser. If you do not feel comfortable Download the beta software and check the official demos in the Microsoft website. In general, Internet Explorer 9 has a great potential.

Some of these features include support and support for H.264 video, integrated audio, vector graphics scalable, CSS 3, a new JavaScript engine, and, of course, HTML 5.

This positions IE9 maintain its edge in the future. Many of these technologies video (embedded audio, H.264, etc.) allow viewers to multimedia work without having to install some plugins, like Adobe Flash ® ®, for example.

The only drawback IE9 is not compatible with Windows ® XP only Windows Vista and Windows 7. This has been an issue that prevents the use of IE7 and IE8, since neither is compatible with Windows 2000 that caused users of Windows 2000 is live IE6, or find an alternative.

Although, as is the development of Windows 7, Internet Explorer 9 also will expand, creating more opportunities for developers custom web development web in general.

Windows 7 Series Phone

Another big announcement from Microsoft Mix, was more about the new Windows Mobile operating system: Windows Phone Series 7. Despite a horrible name awkward, the new Windows Mobile operating system seems simply incredible.

Even some of the iPhone ™ ™ and Android users around our office have difficulty hiding their jealousy of some of the new features and interface of the new operating system. This does not mean that the new Windows 7 Series Phone Android is likely to reverse or iPhone, but users will certainly get a top-of-the-line product if they want a phone with the operating system Windows 7.

In addition to demonstrations and presentations, Microsoft also released the software development kit (SDK) that allows us to begin the development of custom applications Windows operating system the phone number 7. Very exciting!

Some of the advantages of Windows 7 Phone include native support for several technologies that are not available on other platforms including Silverlight ™ and DivX. Phone Windows 7 Series is also expected to support Flash in the future, but not the version initial. Same Yes, Silverlight enables the development of complex applications, including games and interactive services, while support for DivX (even if it is DivX 6) that is light years ahead of the iPhone in terms of media compatibility.

Other notables: Internet Privacy

In Mix, SXSW and other press conferences this week, there was an issue that was mainly due to privacy on the Internet, including online data security and control of Web use.

Danah Boyd, a social scientist of the media at Microsoft Research New England, and professor at Harvard University Berkman Center for Internet & Society, made an impressive presentation on Internet privacy. The full presentation can be found here: (Http: / / www.danah.org/papers/talks/2010/SXSW2010.html)

One of the most powerful in the presentation came at the end when he said:

"For the techies in the room … When out of the Web 2.0 Web 1.0, suggests that you think the design and deployment of software for the creation of the code of life. He learned to dance with their users, to evolve with them. Those of you who have successfully learned the tango moves more complicated there. It's the mentality you need to treat privacy and publicity. Knowledge is required informed of what their users want and dialogue on the issues. When it comes to advertising, design a new system will be much easier for development already deployed. If you do some public good, users can do without it, using it for what they believe the most logical. But if you give users a feeling of intimacy, a sense of intimacy, which exposes them can be very costly for you and for them. You could lose your reputation, but remember that the life some people are on the line. "

"For parents and educators in the room … Many of you have the drive to help young people navigate this new world of privacy and publicity, but many of you are confused. The worst thing you can do is start a sentence with "In my time." Back in the days did not matter. What matters is that you care and you are also trying to find a way to make sense of a changing environment. Instead of dealing with teenagers and tell them how things should be, why not be put on-line material, please consider the value of opening a dialogue. You have much to learn of what teenagers are trying to do, had to give meaning to public life as well. The difference is that they are in the new environment. Take what you know and then actively listening to adolescents. Through their struggles, you can see what is new and different. "

For us it is a very strong statement. In It highlights the issues from the perspective of a developer to produce products that users can do successfully, but without going so far as to explode. It also has intended to help those unfamiliar with the Internet to understand all the power, and potential dangers of having information online.

This not only apply to the misuse of personal information that may embarrass or destroy individuals, but also stresses the importance for the protection of enterprises and employees as well.

With the storage that covers approximately 500 modern Exabyte of data, both in fact and in the next year we will be faster of the collection, we can build storage facilities to store all this becomes particularly important to manage our fingerprints in the same way we look to our physical security.

In both cases, privacy and Internet security is something that deserves further examination, especially since the last Twitter events (the disclosure of user data to developers), Facebook (changing privacy controls) and Google (Buzz and now the opportunity to opt out monitoring), among others, privacy is something that can affect trade and public charge as much as people might be harmed.
