Best method for jailbreaking 3G?

Hello, I'm looking for the best way to jailbreak my new 3G. I found tutorials on how do, but I would like to know the best way to do it. My features are: 3G iPhone firmware 3.1.3 05/12/2001 C. Baseband model I understand that the escapes for this configuration are committed, but not unfettered leaks coming "soon." Should I jailbreak attached or wait for a no strings attached?
