I need help to put videos on my ipod touch 3rd generation of my laptop. Read more!?

Well, that, I'm using iTunes to sync my whole library with my 3G 32GB iPod Touch and I realized that I could use some video formats …. mp4 file formats work, but then I tryed to add a file MP4 video and wouldnt work on the iPod Touch (it wouldnt even be button, but it did in the iTunes library), so I did a lil Reasearch and found that there are different coding, or something to MP4 files only some of them could run. So heres my question: Is there a particular format that will work on the iPod Touch, no matter Why? or how you could convert MP4 files with the right kind of mp4? and the possibility of "creating iPod or iPhone as option work? I tryed once and ruined video and IM / IT to try again today, but its very slow and I think to do something, but this is the right way to go about this? thank everyone in advance! xxoxo

It is SD video format for the iPod touch is not the HD video format, Play with a habit, if you convert.
