Does my verizon payment apply to the past month or the upcoming month?

My contract with Verizon expires on July 11, 2010 and I am switching to AT&T for the new IPhone. My next payment for Verizon is due June 21st. Does this cover my obligation to Verizon and will I be hit with a penalty for switching on June 25th if I have paid for the month but switched the service before the July 11th date?

Just because your bill is due on the 11th of every month doesn’t mean your bill be paid up. Your billing cycle actually ends a couple of days before that. If I were you I would call Verizon and confirm what my billing date is. When this happens in July go to your nearest Verizon store and ask to bring your bill current so that you may cancel your service without anything due and you should be squared away.
